Gold & Silver Wyre Drawers Livery Company |
Website Design & Build

Problem: Marc Peter was introduced to the Worshipful Company of Gold & Silver Wyre Drawers by a Swiss Expat in London – Walter Isler – and in October 2024 become a Liveryman himself. The Company was established in 1623 and grew organically with a lot of different opinions, especially pertaining to the brand in-use in different media, from email to the magazine to table place cards and the website look-and-feel. To change something however is a very delicate and thoughtful process.

Solution: At first we redrew the Mark in high resolution for use in print and online with consistent colour versions and a black&white version. We then refined the brand identity to include colour-ways and fonts and provided a brand manual that can be shared with printers, sponsors and internally between The Master and Wardens' Leadership Team. This work inspired confidence in the Company's Leadership Team which led to on-IDLE being commissioned to design and develop a new public-facing website.

Highlights: Receiving raucous applause from the whole Leadership Committee on the new way forward and launching the new website in time for the inauguration of the new Master on the 6th of January.

The first task was to redraw the Livery Mark, for consistent use and in high resolution across all brand touchpoints going forward. We designed of a simple Logo System, always keeping the Mark at the epicentre.
_
To keep in line with the Mark, a colour palette was selected and web-optimised, being careful to retain the tradition of the Company.

The Livery Company has close connections with Zurich Liveries – the Typography selected should thus subtly bring these worlds together. The font Cormorant Upright is designed by Christian Thalmann, based in Zürich and the font Gill – a humanist sans-serif typeface – was designed by English typographer Eric Gill.

The website design flows easily with the dynamic colour palette and animated elements. A very old Livery fit for the future.

Liverymen are always on the go... thus we made sure the User Experience is excellence.

All the modern practitioners who hold an exhibition – and want to show off they are part of the Company – can request a batch of Livery cards to place in the exhibition.
