Problem: Our dear friends Effie & Phiz are longstanding clients where we helped in various branding and website projects over the years – from a wine business to deer stalking and a sporting to venison packaging. They have been busy maintaining and developing the Standinghall Estate which brings a number of ventures, the first of which is a beautifully renovated cottage into a Bed & Breakfast on the estate with a barn offering forestry training on the way. They needed a flexible Design System to cater for all the variations – B&B, training, forestry management, conservation in an area of outstanding beauty and more.

Solution: As both Effie & Phiz are very creative we needed to make sure they have a flexible set of brand assets that can be applied across media, signage and merchandise easily.

Highlight: Working out a grid system for the logo design from the sketches inspired by their daughter and make it work in all sizes, colour variations, online and printed outcomes.

Working with a creative couple as a client can be challenging – but in the case of Effie & Phiz it is a pleasure to explore and experiment with options and scribbles in a creative sessions.

We decided to use a 45º Angle for the lines to symbolise the barn and the trees typical for the area.

To make sure the logo can be applied to any given situation we provided colour variations with in-use examples for various media, from pillow cases to postcards to social media handles.
